Ro, while eating:
Ro: Is there sand in my sandwich?
me <surprised>: I don’t think so. Sometimes there are little stones in the bread but I think yours is fine.
Ro: Are there witches in the sandwich?
me <laughing>: No!
Ro: Then, why is it called “SANDWICH”?
Good question. Why?
… because of John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich (18th century): he didn’t invent it, but used to order meet between slices of bread. Copying him, his fellows ordered “like Sandwich”… Enjoy! 🙂
